Meet Ms. Jerris!
Hello Superstar families! I hope you all had a wonderful summer break! I am Ms. Jerris and this will be my second year at Skinner and 4th year teaching! In December of 2019, I graduated from the University of Alabama (ROLL TIDE) with a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education. After I graduated, I taught at another CPS school for 2 1/2 years.
I was born and raised in a small town called Sandy Hook, Newtown, Connecticut. I had the privilege of learning from so many incredible teachers who helped shape me into the person and teacher that I am today. After 16 years of living in the same house, my family and I moved to Indiana. I have a younger sister who attends Boston University and we have a family dog named Ruby! Some of my favorite things to do or enjoy include: traveling , exercising, spending time with family, exploring the great outdoors, watching funny movies, and drawing!
While growing up on my street in CT, my neighbors and I used to play outside until the sun would set. We played baseball, soccer, kickball, rode our bikes, built snowmen, and played any tag game you could think of. I grew up playing sports, my favorite ones were soccer, tennis and skiing. Being physically active has always been a staple in my life and it soon became a passion of mine when I decided to pursue teaching. I am eager to help your child grow and discover their own passions. I want to encourage your child to enjoy being physically active for the rest of their lives.
As a Physical Education teacher I hope to encourage active life-long learning through fun activities, games and sports and help guide our Superstars to become physically literate individuals.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me!
